COOKING & THE CREATION OF GO COOKWARE…

When I starting cooking 40 years ago (has it been that long ?) French cuisine was the way to go. In the East ‘50s in Manhattan names like Le Cirque, Four Seasons, La Cote Basque, Le Pavillion, Le Veau d’Or, La Grenouille dominated the culinary scene.

I remember going to a local French restaurant in Bay Shore, L.I. NY called Le Pom Pom Rouge. It was owned by a true Frenchman called Pierre and his wife Edith. Being an aspiring French cook, I attempted to look in the tiny little kitchen that was filled with all types of pans and suddenly Pierre blocked my view and entrance. “Something you wish Monsieur ?”

Taken by surprise, I answered in a really timid voice, “Just admiring your kitchen. “ Then, in an attempt to appear knowledgeable, I added a few more tidbits of culinary expertise by saying, “ How do you compare French cooking to Italian ?” His answer “ There is no such thing as Italian cooking. Only the French cook, The Italians are only capable of making love.” There and then I decided that my mission in life was to continue my love for cooking.
